Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of interest rates (BI rates) and inflation on the profitability of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (2020-2023) through credit as an intervening variable. This study uses a quantitative approach. Data collection techniques through the official websites of Bank Indonesia, the Central Statistics Agency, the Financial Services Authority, the Indonesia Stock Exchange and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia for the period 2020-2023. The sampling technique used in this study used the purposive sampling technique. The sample used in this study was 48 data. The data analysis technique used in this study was in the form of statistical data tests, normality tests, multicollinearity tests, heteroscedasticity tests, autocorrelation tests, path analysis t-tests, sobel tests, and coefficient of determination (R2) tests and using SPSS software version 25. The results of the study indicate that the Interest Rate (BI rates) variable has a negative and significant effect on Profitability, Inflation does not affect profitability, interest rates (BI rates) have a negative and significant effect on credit, Inflation does not affect credit, credit has a positive and significant effect on profitability, interest rates (BI rates) have a negative and significant effect on profitability through credit, Inflation has no effect and is not significant on profitability through credit. The results of the mediation test show that credit is proven to be significantly only able to mediate the effect of interest rates (BI rates) on profitability.
