PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN PENDINGIN UDARA, AIR DROMUS DAN OLI PADA PROSES HEAT TREATMENT BAJA KS 16 TERHADAP KEKUATAN TARIK
The Effect of Use of Air Cooling, Dromus Water and Oil in The Heat Treatment Process of KS 16 Steel on Tensile Strength
Abstract
The nature of the steel itself can be formed easily. One of them is the heat treatment process which can shape (change) the properties of steel from easily broken to stronger and more ductile or can also change the properties of steel from soft to very hard. Steel is a mixture of iron (Fe) and carbon (C ), where the element carbon (C) is the basic ingredient. Apart from the elements Fe and C, steel also contains other mixed elements such as sulfur (S), phosphorus (P), silicon (Si) and manganese (Mn) which are limited in quantity. Carbon steel is divided into three types, namely: low carbon steel (< 0.30% C), medium carbon steel (0.30% < C < 0.70%), high carbon steel (0.70% < C < 1, 40%). Meanwhile, alloy steel consists of low alloy steel and high alloy steel. Test Material Without Heating Maximum load of test material (F max) = 50.5 KN, Fracture load of test material (F fracture) 33.5 KN, Melting load of test material (F yield) 38 KN. The average tensile strength results were obtained with (MPU) = 622.08 N/mm², (MPD) = 617 N/mm² and (MPO) = 558.39 N/mm². When compared between the three cooling media, (MPU) has a greater tensile strength value
