PENURUNAN KADAR LOGAM BESI MENGGUNAKAN BUBUK KALSIUM CANGKANG KERANG HIJAU
Abstract
Kerang hijau (Perna viridis) merupakan salah satu jenis olahan dari perairan dengan presentase produksi yang cukup tinggi. Tingginya angka konsumsi ini diikuti dengan tingginya jumlah limbah sisa pengolahan yang dihasilkan yaitu berupa cangkang kerang. Cangkang kerang menjadi limbah yang kurang dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Pada cangkang kerang terdapat banyak kandungan mineral yang apabila diproses banyak manfaat yang akan bisa diperoleh. Cangkang kerang telah diteliti mengandung sumber mineral kalsium yang cukup tinggi. Kajian ini adalah penelitian awal yang difokuskan untuk menentukan kemampuan bubuk kalsium cangkang kerang hijau dalam menurunkan kadar besi pada larutan standar dengan konsentrasi 20, 40, 60, 80, dan 100 mg/L. Hasil yang didapatkan dari penelitian ini adalah kandungan kalsium dari cangkang kerang hijau berupa kalsium karbonat (CaCO3) dengan kalsium mencapai 34,93%Wt dan dapat digunakan dengan baik untuk menurunkan kadar logam besi.
