PENGARUH VARIASI VOLUME ETANOL PADA PEMBUATAN TINTA SPIDOL WHITEBOARD MENGGUNAKAN PEWARNA EKSTRAK KULIT BUAH RAMBUTAN
Abstract
Kulit buah rambutan selama ini hanya akan dibuang setelah daging buahnya dimakan. Kulit buah rambutan memiliki kandungan senyawa tanin yang digunakan sebagai pewarna dalam industri cat dan tinta. Senyawa tanin yang terdapat di dalam kulit buah rambutan dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan dasar pewarna dalam pembuatan tinta spidol. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi volume etanol terhadap karakteristik tinta spidol whiteboard dengan bahan dasar pewarna dari ekstrak kulit buah rambutan agar sesuai dengan SNI tinta 06-1567-1999 yang lebih aman bagi kesehatan. Pembuatan tinta spidol dilakukan dalam beberapa tahap yaitu, preparasi kulit buah rambutan, ekstraksi kulit buah rambutan dan pembuatan tinta spidol whiteboard yang dilakukan dengan mencampur bahan- bahan pembuat tinta antara lain, 3,5 g gum arab, 7 mL aquades, 1 g ekstrak kulit buah rambutan, 10 tetes larutan FeCl3 10%, 0,2 g PEG 400 dan etanol 96% dengan memvariasikan volume 2 mL, 4 mL, 6 mL, 8 mL dan 10 mL. Berdasarkan hasil analisa, diperoleh hasil terbaik pada variasi volume etanol 10 mL dengan densitas 0,9431 g/mL dan viskositas 1,1169 cP yang telah memenuhi SNI tinta 06-1567-1999. Waktu kering tinta selama 2,20 menit, warna hitam keunguan dan homogen.
