KAPASITAS ADSORPSI LOGAM MANGAN (Mn) MENGGUNAKAN BIOSORBEN PEKTIN DARI KULIT PISANG KEPOK
Abstract
Pembangunan pabrik kimia memberikan dampak buruk bagi lingkungan dengan dihasilkannya limbah yang
mengandung logam berat seperti logam mangan (Mn). Salah satu pengolahan limbah yang mengandung logam berat
dengan metode adsorpsi. Penggunaan pektin sebagai bisorben dalam proses adsorpsi telah banyak dilakukan karena
memiliki beberapa keunggulan dan mengandung gugus aktif seperti karboksil dan hidroksil yang berperan penting
dalam proses adsorpsi. Penelitian yang dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengetahui kapasitas adsorpsi logam mangan (Mn)
menggunakan pektin dari kulit pisang kepok sebagai biosorben. Pektin diperoleh dari hasil ekstraksi kulit pisang
kepok menggunakan metode Micowave Assited Extraction (MAE). Larutan mangan diadsorbsi menggunakan pektin
massa 1 gram dengan variabel waktu adsorpsi (60, 90, 120, 150 dan 180 menit). Identifikasi gugus fungsi pektin pada
serapan panjang gelombang antara 1000cm-1 hingga 3500 cm-1 menggunakan spektrofotometer FT-IR dan didapatkan
hasil analisa yaitu terdapat gugus hidroksil (3423,993 cm-1), karbonil (1638,233 cm-1), karboksilat (1736,585 cm-1),
eter (1079,942 cm-1) dan karbonsiklik (1238,076 cm-1) .Logam Mn setelah adsorpsi dianalisa menggunakan AAS.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa waktu adsorpsi optimum untuk mengadsorpsi logam Mn adalah 150 menit
dengan kapasitas logam teradsorpsi sebesar 0,182 mg/g (36,403%). Adsorpsi logam Mn mengikuti persamaan isoterm
Freundlich dengan nilai KF = 0,0886 mg/g.
