Abstract

Balikpapan is a city located in East Kalimantan Province with an area of 81,495 ha. Location: 116.5 ° East Longitude and 117.0 ° East Longitude and between 1.0 ° South Latitude and 1.5 ° South Latitude. Population: 688,318 people/soul. Assuming plastic use of 0.005 kg/(person x day) can reach a plastic volume of around 123,896.7 kg/year. This is a problem for the environmental ecosystem if there is no handling of the plastic waste problem. The current handling is through 3R (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) this will one day return to the environment as plastic waste. Thus, through the INNOVATION PROJECT program through the Balikpapan Pertamina International Refinery in collaboration with the Samarinda State Polytechnic and the Muara Rapak Proklim community group. Application of Appropriate Technology (PPTTG) Application of Plastic Waste Management Technology with the Pyrolysis Method using fuel from used oil. The products obtained are fuel as the main product with the conversion of plastic waste into fuel ≥90% wt and gas fuel. Fuel oil is measured by its specific gravity characteristics. Based on the specific gravity of BBM, the results are diesel, kerosene or gasoline depending on the type of plastic, pyrolysis process and heat rate.
