Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance students’ technological literacy through robotics and coding training at MTs Guppi Jatiroto, a junior high school located in a rural area of Wonogiri Regency, Central Java. The school faces limited access to technology, lacks teachers with expertise in programming and robotics, and has low student awareness of technological innovation. The training program was designed to be structured and interactive, consisting of two main sessions: introduction to basic robotic components and block-based visual programming. The activity was carried out by a team of lecturers and students from Universitas Sanata Dharma and involved 12 students divided into four small groups. Although the number of participants fell short of the initial plan, the training successfully increased students’ engagement and enthusiasm through hands-on practice and motivational rewards. One of the key findings was the active participation of a student with special needs, indicating the inclusivity potential of technology-based education. The activity also inspired several teachers to explore robotics and coding, suggesting long-term sustainability. This program demonstrates that even with limited resources, a well-designed and inclusive approach to technology education can foster creativity and improve students’ competitiveness in rural areas. It is a promising model for similar programs in underserved regions.
